Shares of several cryptocurrency companies are trading higher on Thursday as the price of bitcoin rose and El Salvador lawmakers approved a law regulating the sale of crypto-backed bonds.
Shortly before the end of normal trading, Bitcoin was trading at $18,929, up 5.7%, according to FactSet.
At 3:50 pm ET, Hive Blockchain Technologies Ltd. shares were up 36.26%, trading at 3.14 per share. At the time, it exceeded his 4.3 million shares, beating his 65-day average of about 1 million shares for the company.
Around the same time, the stock price of Marathon Digital Holdings Inc. rose 31.06% to $7.03 per share. At the time, trading volume was just under 60 million shares, higher than the 65-day average of about 19 million shares.
Riot Platforms Inc. stock was up 13.87% prior to its close, trading at $6.11 per share. The stock moved over 24.3 million shares, outperforming the 65-day average of just under 11 million shares.
