get off announced the winners of its first ZPrize competition earlier this year. Around March 2022, ZKP’s leading protocol, Aleo, launched his ZPrize contest. This competition stems from industry-wide initiatives aimed at boosting ZK hardware development and overcharging the organization for zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs).
This competition demonstrated the value of cross-industry cooperation to effectively upgrade the baseline ZK technology algorithm and hasten the technology’s ultimate destiny.
A total of 32 entrants entered the competition, vying for a total prize pool of $4,415,000.
The concept of this competition is ETHDenver in 2022, Alex PrudenCEO of Areo.
Purpose of Z prize competition that is:
- Further improve the baseline performance of key common algorithms
- Improve diversity and accessibility of low-level libraries for cryptographic authentication
- Raising Awareness of the Amazing Potential of Zero-Knowledge Crypto
For these purposes, the competition has been divided into two overarching divisions: the open division and the team division.
- The Open Categories consist of seven major categories of public goods that benefit different protocols/attestation frameworks.
- Team categories are defined by individual teams and consist of categories specific to a particular protocol/proof system.
All submissions, regardless of class, will be open sourced at the end of the competition. This moves the industry and technology forward.
Given the importance of this competition, Alex While software-based zero-knowledge cryptography has made great strides in recent years, hardware acceleration has yet to experience concrete development. “We are already seeing significant improvements in hardware performance as our competitors embrace community and openness. To provide the foundation for a more developed ZK infrastructure, we need to create an ecosystem that fosters innovation. it is imperative to do so.”
